TERRA NOSTRA GARDEN — NATURE IN PURE STATE

Parque Terra Nostra

Gradually I am remembering here the fantastic trip I made to the island of São Miguel, in the Azores.

The stay was brief, only a week, but what I saw, what I met, what I felt was so rich that I always felt that writing only a post about São Miguel was not worth the beauty of that place.

So, here it is the fabulous Terra Nostra Garden!

Located in the Furnas Valley, this gigantic park has a history that has crossed centuries and that is worth knowing to better understand the place that we visit today.

Discover Terra Nostra Garden

The bicentenary park is enormous and must be seen with patience, appreciating all the species of plants, trees, and flowers that grow there. Most of them are native to the Azorean islands, but we can also find some types from other parts of the world, which value this vast botanical heritage even more.

Terra Nostra Garden is full of details to discover. From the caves, the various gardens, all the nooks, and crannies.

The Park House and the Thermal Tank are two of the main attractions. Here you can take a bath, but keep in mind that, like the Caldeira Velha or the Poça da Dona Beija, it’s iron-rich water and, therefore, you have to be careful with the time you remain inside.
