My name is Marlene Marques, and I’m the author of Surfer Girl On The Move.
I named this blog like that because it’s the result of two great passions: travel and surfing. Well, to tell you the truth, there are three giant passions if you count writing.
I graduated in journalism because I was curious to know the world, to report what I saw.
In the early days, I thought of being a war correspondent, such was the urge to travel. Today, I don’t know if I could take it. I think I prefer to show what’s beautiful in the world, rather than the darkest side of the human being.
The surf also came early. In the days when just a few female surfers were walking around with a surfboard under their arms. I had my share of surfing events, participating or work on them.
But what always gave me joy was to hit the road, or board a plane, and go around looking for the most beautiful beaches and the most perfect waves to surf. After all, if the waves often travel half an ocean to meet us, who are we to not be there to welcome them.
The fact is that surfing always led me to travel, and these trips always made me know other parts of the globe, different cultures, other people. And that made me richer in spirit.
And it’s to share with you this personal wealth that Surfer Girl On The Move was born. With it, I hope to sharpen your desire to travel, to learn, to see. Whether it’s your city, your country or growing the dream of one day go even further.
I hope you have fun going through these pages, reading these posts, discovering all the images and videos.
Thank you so much for being on that side!
